E-invoice – JSON Schema

Tax Invoices, commonly known as e-invoices, must be issued in electronic format by taxpayers with a yearly aggregate turnover above Rs 5 crore.

The Goods and Services Tax Network developed a standard e-invoice format in JSON.

Header information

A bill’s number, date, sender, recipient, and reference number(IRN) are all listed on it.

Transaction-level

A Transaction category type is included in this section.

Document-level

The document type, number, date, etc. are all listed in this area.

Supplier

The Seller GSTIN, Trade Name, Address, etc. are included in this area.

Buyer

This section includes the buyer’s GSTIN, Trade name, address, etc.

Dispatch

Dispatch GSTIN, Trade Name, Address, etc. are included.

Ship-to

Covers Tradename, Ship to GSTIN, Address, etc.

Items on an invoice

Line item information is provided in this section.

Document synopsis

Every document’s overall worth is included in this section.

Payments details

Payment information and terms are provided in this section.

Reference information

This section includes a number of references pertaining to invoices.

E-invoice template

For the benefit of Taxpayers, the government portal has made an e-invoice format accessible. Additionally, it lists the mandatory and optional fields taxpayers must complete constructing the e-invoice.
