Late Fee for GSTR-3B Filing

GSTR-3B is a monthly summary return that needs to be filed by registered taxpayers. Late filing of GSTR-3B attracts a penalty and is divided into two categories:

  • Enter the Tax Period: Select the month and year you’re due to file the GSTR-3B. This represents the duration for which the return is overdue.
  • Nil Tax Liability: If you have no tax liability for the particular month, the late fee is capped at Rs.20 per day (Rs.10 per day each under CGST and SGST). The total late fee is limited to a maximum of Rs.50 (Rs.25 each under CGST and SGST).
  • Tax Liability: If you have any tax liability for a particular month, the late fee is Rs.50 per day (Rs.25 per day each under CGST and SGST). The total late fee is capped at a maximum of Rs.10,000 (Rs.5,000 each under CGST and SGST).
  • The GST calculator will then display the GST amount and Total selling price in a few seconds.

To calculate the late fee, you need to determine the number of days of delay from the due date of filing GSTR-3B until the actual filing date. Multiply the applicable daily rate (as mentioned above) by the number of days of delay to get the late fee amount.
