It certifies the details of your salary for the year and the TDS deduction. These are the scenarios when the form showing a TDS deduction is necessary:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Income from salary for the financial year is more than the basic exemption limit of Rs 2,50,000\u00a0<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Total income for deduction includes your disclosed income from other sources.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Form 16 means acknowledging that your deducted tax amount deposit is complete with the Income Tax department. Any salaried person with a tax deduction by the employer at the source is eligible to get Form 16. Irrespective of whether your income falls under the tax exemption limit, the employer must issue a Form 16 if they have deducted tax at the source.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 id=\"h-how-to-check-or-verify-the-form-16\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Check or Verify the Form 16<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Navigate to the official website of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.incometax.gov.in\/iec\/foportal\">income tax portal<\/a>.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Login using a username (your <a href=\"https:\/\/mybillbook.in\/blog\/pan-number-permanent-account-number\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PAN)<\/a> &amp; password<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Browse to the \u2018<strong>e-file<\/strong>\u2019 tab and click on \u2018<strong>View 26AS<\/strong>\u2019 under the \u2018Income Tax Returns\u2019 option<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Once you get redirected to the TRACES website, click on the \u2018<strong>View Tax Credit\u2019<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Then, click on \u2018<strong>Verify TDS Certificate<\/strong>.\u2019 Fill in the required details in Form 16 (Part A) except for the source of income.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Select your source of income from the drop-down menu on the page<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Click on \u2018<strong>Validate<\/strong>\u2019 to check the authenticity of your Form 16.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Verify whether the details on the form and those shown on the website will be the same.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Contact your employer immediately to correct the Form 16 in case the website displays that your Form 16 is invalid.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For the verification of the digital signature of your Form 16\u00a0<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Open Form 16 in an Adobe reader.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Right-click on the digital signature on the last page of form 16.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Then, click on \u2018<strong>Validate Signature<\/strong>.\u2019<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>If it displays valid, then the sign is valid.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 id=\"h-other-things-to-know-about-form-16\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Things to Know About Form 16<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Your employer cannot deduct any TDS and issue a form 16 if your income is below the basic exemption limit.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>You might have more than one form 16 document if you worked with more than one employer during the tax year.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>[adinserter block=&#8221;3&#8243;] [adinserter block=&#8221;4&#8243;]<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>[wp-faq-schema title=&#8221;FAQs about Form 16&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is Form 16?
