{"id":1911,"date":"2021-06-22T08:52:01","date_gmt":"2021-06-22T08:52:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybillbook.in\/blog\/?p=1911"},"modified":"2026-05-13T12:10:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T12:10:16","slug":"uan-registration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybillbook.in\/blog\/accounting\/mis-report-20\/","title":{"rendered":"UAN Activation &#038; Registration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Full form of UAN is Universal Account Number.\u00a0When a person joins a company with more than 20 employees for the first time, the company has to activate UAN for the person. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-activate-uan\">Activate UAN<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To activate UAN number, the employer has to follow the below process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Login to the EPF Employer Portal or <a href=\"https:\/\/unifiedportal-emp.epfindia.gov.in\/epfo\/\">UAN Login Portal<\/a> using the company\u2019s Establishment ID and password<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the \u201cMember\u201d section and select \u201cRegister Individual\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter all the employee details like Aadhar number, PAN, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Approve in the \u201cApproval\u201d section<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The EPFO generates a new UAN and sends it to the employer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The employer can use this to activate UAN number and link the EPF account of the employee to the UAN<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-know-your-uan-for-epf\">How to Know Your UAN for EPF<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When an employer generates a UAN for their employee, they provide the UAN and the EPF account number to the employee. You can also find and know your UAN using the following method:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in\/memberinterface\/\">EPF Member Portal<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the \u201cKnow Your UAN\u201d option<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the mobile number that you have given to your employer. They have registered this mobile number to activate UAN number. Use the same to know your UAN<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the captcha code and click on the \u201cRequest OTP\u201d button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the OTP you will receive on your phone along with the captcha<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your details such as name, Aadhar Card number, PAN details, and enter the captcha for verification<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select \u201cShow my UAN.\u201d You will know your UAN<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-uan-activation-through-epfo-member-portal\">UAN Activation Through EPFO Member Portal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use the EPFO portal to use different services for EPF. Before you do so, you must register and activate UAN. If you do not activate UAN, you will not be able to access any online EPF services. <br><br><strong>You can activate UAN online through the UAN portal:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in\/memberinterface\/\">EPF Member Portal<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select \u201cActivate UAN\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the UAN along with other details such as Aadhar Card number, name, mobile number, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the captcha code and click \u201cGet Authorization PIN\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will get an authorization PIN on your registered mobile number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter this PIN in the site and select \u201cValidate OTP and Activate UAN\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your UAN will get activated and you will receive the UAN password on your phone<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can log in to the EPF account using your UAN and UAN password<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-link-aadhaar-with-uan\">How to Link Aadhaar with UAN<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You should link your Aadhar Card with your UAN to access your EPF and related services. <br><br><strong>To link your Aadhar with UAN, you have to follow these steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in\/memberinterface\/\">EPF Member Portal<\/a> and login into your EPF account<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select \u201cKYC\u201d in the \u201cManage\u201d section<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the box in front of Aadhar to select it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your 12-digit Aadhar Card number and name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select \u201cSave\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will get a notification as \u201cKYC Pending for Approval\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It will take a few days for UIDAI to confirm your details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once it is done, your employer\u2019s name is displayed as \u201cApproved by Establishment\u201d and your Aadhar is displayed with a notice of \u201cVerified by UIDAI\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-documents-to-activate-uan\">Documents to Activate UAN<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will require the following documents for activating UAN:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Aadhar Card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mybillbook.in\/blog\/pan-number-permanent-account-number\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PAN Card<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bank details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other identity or address proof<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You usually submit these documents to the employer when you join the organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <\/p>\n\n\n\t\t<div class=\"wp-faq-schema-wrap\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>FAQs related to UAN Number&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-faq-schema-items\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Can I upload my KYC document through the UAN Members e-Sewa portal?<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Of course, you can upload your KYC documents on the UAN Member e-Sewa portal. You have to just visit the UAN Member e-Sewa portal and access your account by giving your valid UAN and password. Choose KYC under the tab \u2018Manage\u2019.
